Great Site & Info!! Did you know that you have the capacity to achieve anything you put your mind into? But without confidence, you would not be able to go on and implement what you have in mind. People need other people. The cooperation of others is vital to the success of any individual. Without confidence however, you won't be able to interact properly; and worse, you might even be losing great opportunities, such as not getting the promotion due to lack of social skills or not joining a competition for fear of embarrassment. Not having enough confidence can ruin relationships and can block your path to success in life!

Social anxiety can be crippling to many people. Friends of mine have had it and suffered dearly. They would consistently avoid social situations because of this anxiety. I know from experience that people can overcome this anxiety by bring proactive. In facing their fears anyone can overcome social anxiety.

I used to think I was suffering from social anxiety, but it turned out my cortisol levels were way too high.

I felt stressed out ALL the time. I did some research on the Internet and found out that you can use Vitamin C to regulate your cortisol levels.

Nowadays I feel lot more relaxed. With other people around as well.

There is some very good advice in here. Personally, I know I have a small amount of social anxiety and using the cognitive approach is most likely the best way to get over the fears. This method also causes the most fear so it is tough to do. You see this method a lot with people that have OCD. Anyways, great post.

The ideas cited in this post provide an excellent start for dealing with Social Anxiety. Another valuable asset would be learn to relax. By practicing relaxation skills diligently, relaxation can be used easily and effectively. The best time to do so is at the time that the anxiety is just beginning to assert itself. Relaxing at this time can prevent the anxiety from gaining a stronghold.

Great blog, checkout Drexel University, it offers a FREE in-person treatment program for adults (ages 18-65) suffering from social anxiety disorder in the greater Philadelphia area. Great people there who have helped me immensely.

The good news about social anxiety is that you can get rid of most of them, unlike the neurobiological abnormality in our speech systems or the resulting stuttering and associated learned behaviours.

Interesting article about social anxiety. I normally have another take on this but I'm open to new information like the example with CBT.
Thanks.
